With the city’s namesake—the ever popular Burnabarian—on tap, this iconic brewery had to make the top of our list. Dageraad owner Ben Coli has previously told the Beacon that when he opened his doors in 2014, he crafted the Burnabarian as an “everyman’s beer”—light and crushable, but with a unique flavour it’s not easy to get bored of.

Dageraad specializes in “nerdy beers” like quadrupels and tripels that have won them plenty of awards and recognition, but those of you who like a classic lager or pale ale are sure to find something refreshing to sip on in their North Burnaby taproom.

“Raad Hour” is from 4-6pm, Monday through Thursday, and you can score $1 off each 420ml pour.

Trattoria Burnaby

This happy hour is a cult classic for Metrotown residents! Trattoria Burnaby offers up delicious Italian classics like meatballs, burrata, and a wide selection of pizzas and pastas. They have a large and energetic dining room—and their garden patio filled with greenery is a pocket of peace on bustling Kingsway.

Their happy hour, however, is nothing short of a bargain.

Visit them daily between 2-5pm and 9pm-close for $10 appetizers, $13 pizza and pasta, and some serious deals on drinks. Aperol Spritz for $8? See you there. Let’s pretend we’re in Italy.

If you’ve never been to the rooftop patio at Joey Burnaby, you are hardcore missing out. Climb the stairs and you’ll find yourself transported into a lush garden—all thoughts of Lougheed Hwy traffic nothing but a distant memory. It’s also one of the only rooftop patios in Burnaby.

Don’t worry about the fact that patio szn is over, because the rooftop is heated! And if you prefer to stay as cozy as possible as the weather gets colder, their indoor dining room is nice and comfortable as well.

Head there for an extensive happy hour menu daily between 2-5pm and 9-pm to close. Featured drinks range from $5-8.75. Discounted food includes some of Joey’s most popular dishes from sliders, to spaghetti pomodoro, to steak frites—and their infamous roasted corn guacamole.

SFU students already know. This spot on Burnaby Mountain is perfect for some post-midterm drinks, after work hangs, or just for letting loose on a Friday night!

Their main menu has plenty of snacks and shareables, making it the perfect spot for a big group.

But their happy hour menu has lots of great choices too—from $5 wine and $9 double highballs to mini donuts and $3.50 tacos. We may never leave. Happy hour is on from 3-6pm Monday-Friday and 9pm-close Sunday-Thursday!

Letter to Editor: Highway 1 overpass not a “sincere or realistic” project to support safe cycling

"As an avid, and I do mean avid cyclist who rides throughout the Lower Mainland it stuns me to see money being used so unwisely on such a project when so many other cycling gaps are glaringly obvious."
