Simran is a Punjabi-Canadian journalist with five years of experience reporting in Metro Vancouver. She graduated with a Master of Journalism degree from the UBC School of Journalism. She previously worked as the city editor at Daily Hive Vancouver. She is the recipient of the 2019 Jack Webster Foundation Professional Development Fellowship, which allowed her to travel to the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Florida, to take part in the Reporting Workshop for Rising Stars. Simran is passionate about telling stories that platform diverse voices and communities.

Srushti is a graduate of BCIT’s Broadcast and Online Journalism program, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia. She began her career at CKNW and Global BC, where she was part of a team that won several awards for breaking news coverage from the Jack Webster Foundation and the RTDNAs. She was also a recipient of the Jack Webster Student Journalism Award in 2018. While she has lived all over the world, Burnaby has been her home for the past eight years.

Dustin is a journalist with five years of experience at community publications, including the Burnaby Now, the New Westminster Record, Abbotsford News, Penticton Western News and Castanet Penticton. He won the Canadian Community Newspaper Award for outstanding reporter initiative for an investigative series on the Okanagan Correctional Centre and the Jack Webster Award for community reporting for a series on the homeless community in Abbotsford. He has the best cat.
