Looking for Burnaby’s best burger? You’ll find it at a hockey rink
22’s Grill is one of those hidden gems you only find out about through word of mouth. It’s tucked away inside the Burnaby Winter Club with no signage on the outside of the building except for one of those generic illuminated “Open” signs. It doesn’t even have its own entrance and you must go through the Burnaby Winter Club’s door.
But this restaurant is home to one of the best burgers you can get in Burnaby.
The 22 Smash burger is worth visiting 22’s Grill for, and you know it’s going to be good when they name the burger after the restaurant. It’s made with a fresh all-Canadian beef patty served on a brioche bun and filled with all the fixings you’d expect on a burger: crisp iceberg lettuce, beefsteak tomato, cheese, onion, pickles, and house-made burger sauce. They’re even bold enough to list it as “Burnaby’s Best Burger” on their menu, and rightfully so.
The patty had those delicious crispy edges expected from a good smash burger. The vegetables were fresh, the sauce was good, and the burger wasn’t overly greasy. 22’s Grill isn’t trying to reinvent the burger, it’s stuck to the classics and it’s doing it right. The burger will cost you $9 and to add fries is another $5.
Don’t worry if you’re not a burger person, 22’s Grill has plenty of other menu options. Next time we visit we’re excited to try their four-cheese macaroni made with mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, and cream cheese, topped with panko and more cheese. For those looking for something on the healthier side, they also serve a house salad and chicken caesar wraps (but we still strongly recommend you try the burger).
22’s Grill is located right beside the ice rink, meaning you can enjoy a nice meal while watching the hockey game. 22’s Grill is open from 11am to 7pm on weekdays and 8:30am to 4:30pm on weekends.
