Adam’s Crepes brings authentic Parisian crepes to Burnaby
Today’s Burnaby hidden gem comes to you thanks to one of our readers (hi Donna Polos, thank you for the recommendation). We visited Adam’s Crepes which serves delicious and authentic Parisian crepes.
If you weren’t looking for it, it’d be very easy to miss Adam’s Crepes. It’s located along Rumble St. between a Japanese restaurant and a hair salon. But even with its tucked-away appearance, Adam’s Crepes is worth the visit.
The menu boasts an impressive 51 different kinds of crepes ranging from savoury to sweet. If none of those speak to you, you can also create your own custom crepe with some of the many different ingredients they offer. Based on the stack of Nutella containers stacked against the wall we assumed Nutella was a very popular addition.
When we visited we ordered the tuna, cheese, egg, and mayo (partly because it was the first crepe listed under their savoury menu). It was delicious and we’re now torn between ordering the same thing the next time we visit or trying one of their other creations. Everything being made looked amazing and made it very difficult to not order a second crepe. Donna Polos recommends you try the cheesecake with strawberry and whipped cream if you’re looking for something savoury.
The entire operation was run by one man who was obviously the crepe expert himself Tarik. He was taking orders, making crepes, and checking on customers all at once. It was impressive to watch considering we had a difficult time multitasking between taking photos and eating our crepe. It’s easy to see Adam’s Crepes has a loyal customer base as Tarik greeted nearly every customer by name during our visit. He’d ask for life updates and chit-chat for a bit before going back to his crepes. It added to the homey diner atmosphere he had created and showed he cared for his customers.
Tarik learnt to make these traditional crepes at an esteemed culinary school in his hometown in Paris. In 2015 he relocated to Canada and in 2017 Adam’s Crepes was born. On their website, they say they make their crepes with traditional flour and “are as authentic as any you would eat in Paris.”
The next time you’re in the area we’d highly recommend visiting Adam’s Crepes. With friendly service and delicious food, we promise you won’t be disappointed.
