Burnaby RCMP is asking the public for dash cam footage of a crash that killed a 33-year-old motorcyclist on Wednesday.

According to police, frontline officers responded to a two-vehicle collision between a hatchback and a motorcycle just before 6:30am at the intersection of Laurel Street and Douglas Road.

Authorities say the motorcycle was travelling southbound on Douglas Road and the hatchback was driving eastbound on Laurel Street when the crash took place around 6:10am. The driver of the hatchback stayed on the scene. Unfortunately, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the crash site.

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team has taken the lead on the investigation, and impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time.

“If you have dash cam footage in the area of Laurel Street and Douglas Road between 5:50 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., our investigators would like to speak with you,” stated Cpl. Laura Hirst of the Burnaby RCMP, in a release.

The collision is still under investigation at this time.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2023-4497.
