Burnaby cafes to check out during the Greater Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival

If you’re in the mood for a sweet treat, you’re in luck! The Greater Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival is on now until Feb 14 and there are some notable Burnaby cafes and dessert spots serving up some wildly creative and delicious drinks.

From chocolate glitter balls to beverages infused with the likes of caramel, peanut butter, miso and so much more, these are the handcrafted gourmet creations to check out in Burnaby during Hot Chocolate Fest.

Chez Christophe’s Breakfast Date is a sweet, creamy breakfast-inspired combination that features 35% Zephyr Caramel chocolate, Greek vanilla yogurt, date puree, topped with whipped cream and house-granola. This decadent drink is paired with a spiced, chai date crème brulée danish. The drink is offered until Jan 28. Chez Christophe’s second speciality drink is the Chocomon Milk Chocolate which pairs 38% milk chocolate with 41% Alunga milk chocolate and adds a pinch of Fleur de Sel French sea salt, and topped with cocoa powder. It’s paired with a Blanc Satin hollow chocolate filled with house-made mini marshmallows (available from Jan 29 to Feb 11).Address: 4717 Hastings StHours: Tues to Sat 9am to 5pm. Burnaby’s much-loved retro ice cream spot is offering three hot chocolate drinks during the festival. Dye Happy is a white chocolate hot chocolate that’s steeped with “butterfly pea flower tea” and served with a tie-dyed marshmallow on the side. The Violet Underground is a violet-infused dark hot chocolate that includes a dairy-free iced fudge brownie. If you’re looking for a bit of sparkle, All that Glitters is the drink for you. It’s made up of a glittering ball of milk chocolate ganache (that you pop into your up hot chocolate and coffee). It comes with sparkly chocolate cookie. Please note: Glenburn Soda Fountain is only serving takeout at this time. Burnaby’s Caffe Artigiano location is serving up two speciality hot chocolate flavours this month. The Fluffernutter Hot Chocolate is made with hand crafted peanut syrup, whipped marshmallow, with shaved chocolate. It’s served with a Fluffernutter cookie, making for the ultimate peanut butter-chocolate combination. The salted Miso Hot Chocolate, is made with Vancouver Island Salt, Callebaut pearls, caramel sugar, and a salted dark chocolate chip cookie is served on the side.Address:4359 East Hastings StHours: 6am to 6pm everydayPhone:604-473-2180

Mon Paris is offering some deliciously decadent hot chocolate creations. Circus Night is made of 34% caramel chocolate HC flavoured with notes of citrus. It’s topped with multi-coloured marshmallow flakes and a caramel popcorn cluster on the side. Rendezvous at the Ballet is composed of 70% dark hot chocolate with blackcurrant flavouring. It’s topped with whipped cream and a beautiful ballerina cutout made out of chocolate and comes with a Champagne truffle. Soft Peaks isn’t participating in Hot Chocolate Fest but for those who are looking for a chilled chocolate treat option they’ve brought back their popular dark chocolate soft serve for January only.
