Burnaby residents could win $1,000 for their Halloween decorations
If you’re planning on decorating your house this year for Halloween, you have a chance to win $1,000. You read that right: you can win money for your Halloween decorations.
The Burnaby Neighbourhood Decorating Contest allows Burnaby residents to submit photos of their decorations online for a chance to win cash prizes. First place wins $1,000, second place gets $500, and third gets $250. All winners will also receive a Burnaby Halloween award.
There is also a people’s choice award where the public can choose their favourite house to win $250!
A panel of judges will assess each house for originality, creativity, adherence to topic, workmanship, and overall effect.
If you’re feeling extra festive there is also an opportunity for you to team up with your whole block to decorate and win a cash prize of $1,500. The deadline for entering the contest is Oct. 24 at midnight.
Those needing a little bit of help with their Halloween decorations can also apply for a $350 Residential Decorating Grant. Burnaby residents who applied for the grant will be notified if they are selected by Oct. 14, and the money will be paid out by November.
With so many incentives, there’s no excuse to not get into the Halloween spirit this year. You can find out more about the Neighbourhood Decorating Contest and Residential Decorating Grant by visiting the Tourism Burnaby website.
