Burnaby Readers’ Choice Awards: Best pastry winners
We’re continuing with our Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Award category winners
If you’ve been keeping up with us, we previously announced the top restaurants from our 2023 Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Awards, presented by Tourism Burnaby. Now it’s time to highlight some more winners by category.
We’re breaking down the top three restaurant winners in each of the 32 categories included in this year’s awards, as voted by you.
Here are the winners of the best pastries in Burnaby.
First place: Chez Christophe
Known for their traditional French desserts and pastries, Chez Christophe is an award-winning bakery in Burnaby with a loyal following. Their pastries range from staples like pain au chocolat and fruit danishes to more modern, sophisticated creations like croissant flowers and croissant cubes stuffed with pastry cream.
Address: 4717 Hastings St, Burnaby
Second place: Small Victory Bakery
Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, Small Victory Bakery is famous for being the perfect cozy neighbourhood coffee shop. Except they’re no ordinary coffee shop—bread is baked fresh every day using their own milled flour and a striking display of pastries showcase traditional techniques with a modern flair. Think croissant doughnuts with pistachio cream and brioche cinnamon buns.
Address: 4580 Brentwood Blvd #1214, Burnaby
Third place: Gabi & Jules
If you’re craving a thick slice of pie, there’s no better place to visit than Gabi & Jules. Sweet and savoury pies like blueberry earl grey and butter chicken are sure to steal anyone’s heart, not to mention their rotating flavours which change on a weekly basis—currently, it’s strawberry peaches and cream, cherry rhubarb and triple chocolate cheesecake.
Address: 4568 Hastings St, Burnaby
