Burnaby Readers’ Choice Awards: Best sushi winners

Alright, Burnaby. We’ve announced the top restaurants from our 2023 Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Awards, presented by Tourism Burnaby. Now it’s time to highlight some more winners by category.

We’re breaking down the top three restaurant winners in each of the 32 categories included in this year’s awards, as voted by you.

Here are the winners of the best sushi in Burnaby.

First place: Sushi Garden

This spacious, easygoing sushi restaurant is a Burnaby staple. Expect a classic, diverse menu of sushi, sashimi and maki rolls, along with tempura, gyoza and a wide selection of udon noodle dishes. If you have trouble choosing one menu item, they offer multiple different combos that come with a bit of everything.

Second place: Sushimoto

Lauded for their generous portion sizes and quality sushi rolls, Sushimoto offers a classic menu with lots of creative twists—some of their special maki rolls include the “yellow submarine” with baked crab and the “rich green” with a generous topping of avocado and wasabi tobiko.

Third place: Gaya Sushi

Straddling between classic and modern sushi styles, Gaya Sushi has an ample selection of rolls and hot dishes to explore. Some of their sushi items include traditional red dragon rolls to more adventurous options like the boston roll with asparagus and masago.
