Burnaby Readers’ Choice Awards: Best vegetarian winners
We’re continuing with our Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Award category winners
Alright, Burnaby. We’ve announced the top restaurants from our 2023 Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Awards, presented by Tourism Burnaby. Now it’s time to highlight some more winners by category.
We’re breaking down the top three restaurant winners in each of the 32 categories included in this year’s awards, as voted by you.
Here are the winners of the best vegetarian restaurants in Burnaby.
First place: Cactus Club
Cactus Club has long been a favourite for vegetarian foodies and meat-eaters alike, offering a diverse menu with items ranging from creole steak and prawns to Thai green curry. Some of the most popular dishes on their plant-based menu include Szechuan tofu lettuce wraps, and the garden burger.
Address: 4219B Lougheed Hwy, Burnaby
Second place: Chad Thai Restaurant
It’s hard to avoid animal products in a lot of traditional Thai cuisine, often making use of fish sauce to enhance the savouriness or “umami” in their dishes. Luckily, most of the meat dishes at Chad Thai can be prepared vegetarian, allowing you to enjoy your favourites like pad Thai and tom yum noodles without a second thought.
Address: 4010 E Hastings St., Burnaby
Third place: B&D Vietnamese
Serving traditional tastes of Saigon with modern, creative twists, B&D Vietnamese has a separate menu for vegetarian fare that does not disappoint. Their vegan pho, simmered for five hours and served with organic tofu, looks delicious, as well as their deep-fried lemongrass tofu on rice or vermicelli noodles.
Address: 7090 Kingsway, Burnaby
