Burnaby winter markets and craft fairs to visit this holiday season
Are you one of those people who wait last minute to buy presents? Or do you want to get a head start on decorating your place for the season? These winter markets and craft fairs are the perfect places to do some holiday shopping. These are some of our favourites happening in Burnaby this year!
Over 80 local vendors will be at the Nikkei Craft Fair this year. From Nov. 19-20 you can purchase handmade crafts, upcycled goods, jewelry, artwork, beauty and skincare products, and more! Tickets cost $5 to attend and will grant you access to the entire market and Japanese food trucks. Anyone under 17 can enter for free.
Address: Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre, 6688 Southoaks Cres.
The Swedish Cultural Society’s Christmas Fair returns this year on Nov. 19-20. Visitors can enjoy Swedish glogg, baked goods, food, Christmas decorations and goods, Kids Craft Corner, and listen to live music. There will also be a variety of vendors who offer traditional Swedish goods and items for family, home, celebrations, and gift-giving! It all takes place inside the Scandinavian Community Centre!

The Burnaby Village Museum will be turning into an old-school Christmas paradise starting Nov. 26. Wander the museum’s 10-acre venue and take in all the seasonal entertainment, demonstrations and activities. Take part in our bird-themed scavenger hunt including a menagerie of adorned larger-than-life Eco-sculptures. Enjoy a meal or a treat at the Ice Cream Parlour or other offerings from Cravings Kettle Corn. As always, admission to the museum is free but you’re encouraged to plan your visit in advance because this event can get very busy.

The Deer Lake Craft Fair is being held at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts from Nov. 18-20. There will be over 40 local B.C. artisans at the market, including glass blowers, sculptors, patissiers, jam makers, fashion, and jewelry designers. This is the perfect place to get a head start on some holiday shopping.
