Spring has finally sprung, and that means the cherry blossoms have finally started to bloom in Burnaby.
Spring has finally sprung, and that means the cherry blossoms have finally started to bloom in Burnaby. You’ve seen all the pictures on Instagram but the question remains, where is the best place to look at cherry blossoms in the city? Well, look no further because we’ve got a handy list for you!
While many of these spots are located in public parks and walkways, it’s important to be mindful of trees located in front of and on private properties. Enjoy their beauty from a distance!
Cherry Blossom Gardens
With a name like “Cherry Blossom Gardens,” it’s no surprise that this place made our list. The street is lined with gorgeous cherry blossoms trees that are perfect to take a light stroll down and snap that Instagram-worthy pic.
Address: 1899 Rosser Ave, Burnaby
Burnaby Mountain Park
We recommend heading up to Burnaby Mountain Park and enjoying the gorgeous cherry blossoms when the sun is just about to hit to catch their beauty as golden hour hits. This park is one of the best viewpoints in all of Burnaby and it looks best in spring. We would suggest heading up a bit earlier to make sure you can find parking.
Address: 100 Centennial Way, Burnaby
Southoaks Crescent
If you’re looking for a quick stop for cherry blossoms, then Southoaks Crescent is the best place to go. The street is lined with beautiful cherry blossom trees for you to walk down. The trees are also located very close to the Nikkei National Museum, which honours, preserves, and shares Japanese Canadian history. The blossoms at this location are culturally significant: the cherry tree (sakura) is the symbol of spring in Japan. Street parking at this location is super convenient and it will take you a maximum of 10 minutes to look at all the trees (not counting the time it takes to snap that perfect picture of course). And while you’re there, be sure to check out the Nikkei Museum.
Address: You’ll be able to find the trees outside the museum which is located at 6688 Sotuhoaks Crescent, Burnaby
Edmonds Park
Edmonds Park has a beautiful paved path for you to walk down with cherry blossoms lining the sides. On a sunny day, this is a great spot to go for a walk and enjoy the spring sunshine.
Address: 7433 Humphries Ave, Burnaby
Deer Lake Park
Deer Lake Park doesn’t have the most cherry blossom trees, but there is a grassy section inside the park that is perfect for a spring picnic. Bring a yummy lunch and a blanket, and then sit under some of the cherry blossoms trees while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Address: 5435 Sperling Ave, Burnaby
Ron McLean Park
This is a great spot to take your little ones who may not be as keen to enjoy the cherry blossoms. This park has a small play area to occupy your kids while you enjoy the gorgeous trees around the park.
Address: 7820 Hedley Ave, Burnaby
Burnaby Civic Square
Grab a coffee and head over to Burnaby Civic Square for an excellent spot to unwind and relax. Bring that book you told yourself you would read as your New Year’s resolution and sit in this park among all the cherry blossoms.

Waverley Avenue
This South Burnaby street is lined with beautiful blooms. Take a walk in the neighbourhood and enjoy their beauty from a distance as many of these trees are located in front of people’s homes. If you need a coffee break, head to La Foret, located a short walk away, for a latte and a pastry.
