Edmonds Street is home to some of Burnaby’s most diverse cafes

If you’ve ever walked or driven down Edmonds Street, it’s no secret that this Burnaby stretch is home to a slew of diverse communities and that is reflected in the eateries in the neighbourhood. For instance, beside Oh! Zzhu Sam Korean restaurant, you’ll find Balkan House, which serves up Eastern European fare and a few doors down from Arbab Kabab House, you’ll end up at Pho Edmonds.

You’ll also come across several cafes that showcase the diversity of the neighbourhood. Here are a few cafes in Edmonds (some which also offer meal service) that are worth checking out.

Little Cockatoo Cafe

Little Cockatoo Cafe is technically more of a grill than a cafe (although coffee is on the menu) but don’t let its unassuming exterior fool you. This spot has received some rave reviews for its delicious Balkan food. Here you’ll find traditional Serbian and Croatian eats like Ćevapi and Pljeskavic. It’s tiny on the inside but big on flavour. This Afghan coffeehouse and bakery serves up mouthwatering sweet and savoury treats like pistachio baklava, tandoor bread, round Afghan bread, pistachio shortbread and more. This Edmonds coffee shop recently replaced Caritas9 Coffee Roasters. Coffizen specializes in pour-over coffee and also has some must-try baked goods on its menu, including salted caramel scones, espresso buns, and frozen cream puffs.
