Best places for fall treats in Burnaby
It’s September which means pumpkin spice everything is returning. With every store offering something fall-themed, it’s hard to choose which one is the best. So, here’s our list of some of the best autumn treats in Burnaby. Whether you love pumpkin so much you’d consider yourself a pump-king, or you’re looking for something less pumpkin-y to enjoy, there’s something on this list we know you’ll love.
You can’t talk about fall without mentioning pie, and Gabi & Jules makes some of the best pie in Burnaby. For fall, they are bringing three different pies (one of which is a brand new addition to their menu). You can enjoy classics like their pumpkin and caramel apple walnut pies, or their new creation: blackberry apple crisp. These pies are available for order now!
Address: 4568 Hastings St.
We went to visit Bastion Café to try their lobster melt previously, but this Burnaby cafe also serves some delicious seasonal drinks. If you’re not a fan of pumpkin spice then this will be the place for you. For the fall they are offering a Hazelnut Cream Nitro Cold Brew. If you’re new to nitro cold brew, think of it like creamy iced coffee typically served without ice. If you’re wanting to visit, you should know Bastion Café is tucked away inside the Christine Sinclair Community Centre.
Address: 3713 Kensington Ave.
Chez Christophe has plenty of fall treats lined up for you to enjoy. They’ll be serving fall flavoured Bonbons (cranberry, pumpkin, apple), Pumpkin Travel Cakes, Pumpkin Danishes, fall-themed drinks, and a few more special surprises. However, you won’t be able to get your hands on these goodies until the end of September so you may have to wait a little while longer for them. But if you can’t wait to visit, you can try their Moon Cakes until September 10 for Mid-Autumn festival.
Address: 4717 Hastings St.
Punk Rock Cafe is known for their more adult pastries, and we’re not sure if we can describe what they are without getting in trouble (spoilers: they’re NSFW, but you can take a look here if you pinky promise you’re over the age of 18). You can pre-order this assorted box of cookies from their website.
Address: 5548 Hastings St.
You might be surprised to hear that Olivo Cafe is serving pumpkin spice lattes, but we promise they’re worth it. Olivo Cafe is a restaurant that specializes in all-day breakfast and tacos but also serves great-tasting coffees. While you’re there for your pumpkin spice latte we’d recommend also trying their Birria Beef Eggs Benedict that comes with house special birria beef and poached eggs on English muffins, topped with hollandaise sauce and a side of hash browns and mixed greens. Not quite the most traditional fall-themed breakfast, but it’s delicious enough we had to include it.
Address: 3871 N Fraser Way Unit 17
Tea Cubed Patisserie is serving unique desserts for Mid-Autumn Festival. We’d recommend trying their Foggy Moon, which had a salted egg yolk ice cream puff with a London fog slush. Or you can try their two cakes: the blueberry lemon earl grey and mango coconut pandan. We promise you won’t be able to find unique desserts like this from anywhere else. But be sure to visit soon since their pop-up in Pricemart will be closing on Sept. 11
Address: PriceSmart Foods, 4650 Kingsway
Cobs Bread never disappoints when it comes to their pumpkin pastries. This fall you can order their pumpkin scones or a six-pack of their pumpkin tarts. These are the perfect individual size for when you’re craving a little bit of pumpkin goodness and don’t want to order an entire pie.
Address: 160-7515 Market Crossing, 141-6558 Hastings St., or 224-9855 Austin Rd.
