This much-loved Port Moody pie shop is coming to the Burnaby Heights neighbourhood
Good news pie lovers, you won’t have to drive to Port Moody for Gabi & Jules Handmade Pies & Baked Goods! The popular pie shop will be taking over its sister cafe, Caffe Divano, in the Burnaby Heights neighbourhood.
In an interview with the Beacon, co-owner of Gabi & Jules Lisa Beecroft said, “As Burnaby Heights has developed and we see a lot more cafes popping up, we looked at the area to see what was a more unique opportunity than Divano which is a fairly standard cafe. … If we bring Gabi & Jules to the neighbourhood it’ll be something unique.”
But fans of Caffe Divano don’t have to worry because treats like their crostata’s will still be available at the new store in addition to all their pie offerings.
When asked if there are any exclusive Burnaby treats to try, Beecroft noted that they are “excited to bring pie-by-the-slice to Burnaby.” She also said they’d have to see if there are some specific items the neighbourhood is asking for. “We’re pretty agile with our menu offerings, and we can change it up if there is a demand for a certain thing.”
The Beacon is excited to try the Strawberry Ginger pie which, according to their website, “is made with so much love that we add a pastry heart to the top!” They also serve traditional flavours like apple and even have pies you can bake at home.
When asked what her favourite pie was, Beercroft said, “It’s like choosing a favourite child”
“Pie is such a versatile and nostalgic thing,” she continued. “I love rhubarb so definitely some of the features pies we’ve done with rhubarb are high on my list.” She also said Blueberry Earl Grey is one of her favourites which is currently on their menu.
