How to spend a holiday-themed day in Burnaby
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Burnaby, and if you’re unsure of where to start with all the holiday activities, we’ve got you covered.
Whether you have a day off or you’re looking for weekend activities, we’ve come up with a schedule for how to spend the perfect holiday-themed day in the city.
Get on those boots and dust off those mittens for a morning winter walk. From Burnaby Lake to Fraser Foreshore, we’ve got a great list of parks and trails in the city to take a crisp stroll or moderate hike.
After getting in that exercise, head to Chez Christophe for a delicious latte, and pick up one of their delectable treats from their holiday lineup (preordering is required).
If you’re closer to Metrotown, head to Mon Paris Patisserie for your caffeine fix. Mon Paris also offers up some delicious holiday treats like cookie boxes, Christmas logs, and chocolate gingerbread houses.
Address: Mon Paris Patisserrie: 4396 Beresford St.Chez Christophe: 4717 Hastings St.
While holiday shopping isn’t everyone’s favourite activity, it’s better to get an early start on it so you’re forced to spend Christmas Eve at the mall.
We’ve come up with a local holiday gift guide in case you need some ideas of what to get everyone on your list.
And, if you do need to step foot in a mall, head to Metropolis at Metrotown, The Amazing Brentwood, or the City of Lougheed for all your shopping needs.
Visit Santa
No trip to the mall during the holidays is complete without a visit with Santa. Luckily, Jolly Old Saint Nick has cleared his schedule to make some stops in Burnaby.
You can visit him at:
There’s nothing better than comfort food on a chilly day. Check out our list of comfort food spots in Burnaby and head to one of these eateries to fill up after all that shopping and posing for pics with Santa.
End the day by lighting it up! There are several places in the city to check out beautiful holiday light displays. The Burnaby Village Museum’s Heritage Christmas is a great place to start as the entire museum is transformed into a winter wonderland with plenty of lights and displays to explore. Santa is even on location, so if you need an opportunity to take photos with him, Heritage Christmas is the perfect spot.
The City of Burnaby also has light displays set up around the city (check out locations here).
