How to give back in Burnaby this holiday season
Looking for ways to give back in Burnaby? During the holiday season, there is no shortage of ways to help your community out. We’ve compiled a list of some groups and organizations in the city looking for support and donations throughout the holidays and beyond.

The Burnaby Christmas Bureau’s Toy Room is now open! Located at The Amazing Brentwood (in the old Sears Store on the Main Mall level near the Children’s Play Area), the Toy Room is accepting unwrapped gifts/toys as well as cash donations for our Burnaby Christmas Bureau programs. Drop off toys Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, or Saturday 10am to 3pm. More info here.
One of Burnaby’s most popular breweries is raising money for Burnaby Neighbourhood House with its holiday meat draw. On Dec. 17, head down to Studio Brewing to enter the meat raffle.

Burnaby residents will have the opportunity to bring some positivity to seniors this holiday season by donating a gift through Home Instead’s Be a Santa to a Senior program. Folks can visit London Drugs at 4970 Kingsway in Burnaby and look for a Christmas tree on display. The tree is decorated with ornaments that include gift requests from local seniors. The requests range from slippers, and blankets to necessities like toiletries. Shoppers can choose an ornament and buy the requested gift for a senior in need and return it unwrapped to the store with the ornament attached. Click here for more information.
On Friday, Dec. 9 head down Metrotown to help Burnaby RCMP cram a police cruiser with food and grocery store gift card donations for the local food bank. The cruiser will be parked outside of the Super Metrotown Kingsway Entrance (4700 Kingsway) from 8am to 2pm.

Burnaby’s Physio Collective is hosting its annual Holiday Food Drive until Dec. 23. It will be collecting non-perishable food items for those in need and donating $1 for every pound of food to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. It’s also accepting cash donations to support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB). Learn more here.
