IHIT investigates after man found dead near Burnaby industrial area
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called to investigate after a man was found dead in an industrial area near Burnaby Lake Sports Complex on Thursday morning.
A member of the public discovered the deceased male and first responders were called to a gravel lot near a vacant building on Norland Avene near Laurel Street around 9:45 am.
Police say the victim’s injuries were “consistent with foul play” and there are indications that this was a targeted incident. Investigators are working to identify the victim.
At this time, no further information will be released as RCMP say the evidence-gathering phase is ongoing.
Investigators are asking the public for any dashcam video taken near Norland Avene and Laurel Street between 9pm on Wednesday, July 13 and 9:45am on Thursday, July 14.
