A new shop specializing in Latin American ingredients, snacks, and treats has opened in Burnaby
Mi Tierra Latina has finally come to Burnaby and we couldn’t be more excited. The store offers a huge variety of products from all over Latin America like Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and more. The store was founded by Nilka Garcia, Alexandra Osan, Michelle Rustrian, and Sonia Zebadua back in 2020 with their first location in Vancouver on Davie Street. But now the all-women team is excited to branch out.
“We chose to open our second location in Burnaby as we were attracted to the friendliness and support that the community has,” Osan said in an interview with the Beacon, adding that she is excited to share Latin American culture with the Burnaby community.
Shopping at Mi Tierra Latina is a very different experience than just going to the local supermarket. “We are a specialty store and we want to make our customers feel like they’ve taken a trip to Latin America when they visit us, through music, products, the customer service and more,” said Osan.
But what should really draw you in is the wide variety of goodies that Mi Tierra Latina offers. “Some of our favourite snacks are the plantain and cassava chips that come from different Central American countries,” said Osan. “Additionally, we offer a wide selection of frozen products, from empanadas to Brazilian pão de queijo—that are locally made and absolutely delicious. From panela cheese to frozen passion fruits and a wide selection of coffee—we have it all.”
You can visit from 10 am to 9 pm, or you can do your shopping online. With over 1,000 different products listed on their website, there is something for everyone to enjoy. “Come visit us and join in the experience,” said Osan. “We guarantee you will enjoy it!”
