8 movies and shows you didn’t know were filmed in Burnaby
Vancouver might be known as one of the top filming locations, but Burnaby has had its fair share of time in the limelight. Here are eight movies and shows we bet you didn’t know were filmed in Burnaby.
This coming-of-age movie starring Elliot Page and Michael Cera was filmed all over Burnaby. More specifically, the Hanna Medical Clinic on 3300 Boundary Rd. It has since been replaced by a Starbucks and other stores, but if you’re looking for a little bit of Burnaby nostalgia then be sure to watch Juno.
If you’re a fan of the Twilight Saga then you’re in luck. In Eclipse, some scenes were filmed in our very own Robert Burnaby Park. Who knows—maybe you’ll find your next vampire crush sparkling in the sunlight when you’re there.
For a movie that takes place mostly on a plane, it’s surprising to think that Burnaby would show up at all. Yet the scene (spoilers ahead) where Eddie Kim kills the district attorney is filmed at Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park.
In the 15 years that Supernatural has been on the air, they’ve filmed all over BC and Burnaby. There are too many episodes to get into specifics, but you’ll be able to see scenes from the Burnaby Village Museum and Burnaby Hospital among others.
If you want to re-enact one of your favourite romance movies, then head over to Barnet Marine Park. This is where the scene from The Age of Adaline was shot where (spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the movie) she meets her future husband.
Those who don’t scare easily should head over to the Burnaby Village Museum to see where an iconic photo from the movie is taken. A photo of Pennywise in a photo album was taken right in the museum. While the show was filmed all over Metro Vancouver, this is the most recognizable Burnaby place.
The Ceperley House in Burnaby was used as the frat house in 2004’s The Butterfly Effect, starring Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. But be warned if you do decide to visit because there are rumours the place is haunted.
Did you know you were living in a city of the future? Well… kinda. In Tomorrowland, they used scenes from Burnaby to depict the futuristic city. While there was a lot of CGI used to make it look even more futuristic, be sure to keep an eye out for some familiar places or buildings.
