What’s on the menu: New Burnaby restaurants on our radar
New Burnaby restaurants keep popping up and we’re here to keep you updated. From desserts to Korean fried chicken, pho and so much more, here are some newly opened and soon-to-open restaurants and cafes in the city worth checking out.
The much-anticipated JJ Bean location at Station Square is now open! To celebrate their grand opening they will be serving up some special deals for customers until Feb 19. Get $2 traditional drinks on Feb 16; 50% off lunch items on Feb 17; 50% of select travel mugs on Feb 18; and a buy-one-get-one-free 12oz whole bean bag on Feb 19.Address: 6067 Silver Drive
Aside from its new Kingsway location, Korean dessert chain Sul Bing is also opening up a new spot in the Edmonds neighbourhood. Sul Bing specializes in sweet toasts, waffles, bingsu (shaved ice with various sweet toppings), coffee, and tea. Burnaby Beacon has spotted signage up for Sul Bing at the former Pearl House restaurant and we’ll keep you updated on its opening.Address: 7625 Edmonds St
You won’t have to travel far from the Edmonds Sul Bing location to get your Korean fried chicken fix because a Chicken Plus is slated to open right beside it. On its website, Chicken Plus describes itself as “Korea’s leading fried chicken brand” and they specialize in some delicious flavours including Yang-Nyuem Chicken, Creamy Onion Chicken, and their Snowing Cheese Chicken. This new patisserie opened in the Brentwood area in January. La Fleur D’Oranger specializes in beautifully crafted cakes and pastries as well as a selection of coffee and tea. Check out their Instagram page for their desserts that look almost too pretty to eat!Address: 4325 Dawson St
Signage for B&D Authentic Viet Cusine has popped up in the Highgate at 7090 Kingsway. According to their website, they will “offer a traditional taste from Saigon with modern presentations.” Owners Bella and Dat also write that they want to “share stories and show the community there’s more to Vietnamese cuisine than just Pho.” B&D’s website and Instagram said they are “coming soon” so we’ll update you as soon as we learn more about when you’ll be able to visit.Address: 7090 Kingsway
Opened a few months ago, Onggii is quickly becoming a very popular spot for Korean food in the city. They’ve received some rave reviews for their dishes including the stir-fried spicy squid and pork belly. It’s helpful to make a reservation because this spot can get quite busy.Address: 103-4501 North Road
A new Pho spot is opening up in the city. Pho Den will open its doors on March 1. On their website, they say they specialize in classic Vietnamese cuisine. To celebrate their opening, Pho Den is offering some awesome deals including 15% off your entire meal during the month of March and the first 25 customers that visit on March 1 and 5 will get a free bowl of pho.
