Oh boy, is it cold outside! Christmas is over, the new year is here, and yet we’ve got many weeks to go before the weather warms up and the world starts feeling alive again.

We published our first list of comfort food spots in the city a while ago, and we thought it was time for part two, to start the new year off right.

Try out one of the restaurants on this list of places to find comfort food in Burnaby.

This spot for Korean fried chicken has become hugely popular across the Lower Mainland. With three locations in Burnaby, and plenty of flavours on the menu, they’ve got something for everyone! Make sure to try the famously sweet and spicy Yangyeom, but don’t skip the cheesy deliciousness of the Cheese Snow Chicken. If you’re stuck between two options, try the half and half combo!

Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba specializes in brothless ramen served with thick chewy multigrain noodles. You can choose from 11 different ingredients to pair with your mazesoba—including cubed pork chashu, spicy minced pork, bamboo shoots, and raw egg yolk. OEB Breakfast Co. should be your next destination for a rich, hearty brunch! They do amazing eggs benny—like their Truffled Square, which has braised butternut squash and truffle mushrooms—but if you’re craving something comforting, the real star of the show is their selections of breakfast poutines. The potatoes will send you straight to culinary heaven! They also do classic breakfast and mimosas.

Pie just makes people happy. The Pie Hole changes up its pre-order menu weekly, so make sure to plan ahead through their website!

Is pho the most comforting food in the world? It’s very possible. Is Pho 24 Express one of the best places in Burnaby to get it? Also very possible. This hole-in-the-wall may be unassuming at first glance, but it’s well worth a try! Alongside their warming soups, they also have Vietnamese subs and rice dishes on offer—try the chicken curry and rice!
