A classic spot on Kingsway. The Great Bear Pub boasts live entertainment six nights a week and serves up delectable appetizers and shareables like samosas, poutine, and Jamaican steak bites—plus, it has 10 flavours of chicken wings.

For your main, try the deliciously spiced blackened salmon burger, or the cozy smoked bacon mac and cheese. And don’t worry if you’re vegetarian, because there’s lots of dishes on offer for you too!

X-Site’s motto is “food for every mood,” and boy, does it live up to that. This casual bistro on Hastings Street serves up everything from spuds to gourmet club sandwiches, souvlakis, and steaks.

There’s also an absolutely unbeatable lunch special for just $6.95 with purchase of a beverage, and $7.95 for dinner. How can it get any better than that?!

As for the drinks, they’ve got a classic selection of cocktails, wines, and beers…. Plus $3.95 shooters ($3.25 on Sundays)

Location: 4625 Hastings St.

This pub in the Edmonds area opened in 2020 and serves up a fusion of Asian and European cuisine. You can find everything from mushroom spaghetti to bulgogi and gyoza here—and although it’s only been around a couple years, it’s garnered a regular clientele who love the food and the atmosphere!

It also has a large selection of cocktails and European beers—and hosts weekly events like DJ and karaoke nights.

Fresh mountain air and a crisp pint—what could be more glorious? BierCraft UniverCity is a favourite haunt of SFU students who gather to commiserate after a disastrous midterm, or celebrate the end of the semester, week, or just the end of the day.

But it’s a great spot to visit no matter how long ago you graduated post-secondary.

It has a delicious food menu with something on offer for everyone, including fresh west coast mussels served five different ways.

Plus, it has some of the best happy hours and weekly features around—like BC beers for $3.50 every Tuesday!

OK, is this one *technically* a pub in the traditional sense of the word? No. Does it serve up fantastic local beer alongside a great, cheery atmosphere and weekly events like trivia? Heck yes.

Aside from the obvious and great selection of beer, brewed right on site in one of Burnaby’s only local breweries, the Steamworks food truck is parked right out front serving up classic pub grub every Wednesday.

On other nights, there’s often another local food truck available—or you’re welcome to bring in whatever food tickles your fancy.
