Police investigating after South Burnaby shooting leaves man injured

Burnaby RCMP say one man has been injured after a shooting in south Burnaby.

Police said in a press release issued Monday afternoon that the incident around 11:40am in the area of Patterson Ave and Hurst St left a 59-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim was conscious and breathing when he was taken to hospital, RCMP said.

Investigators believe that the incident was targeted and that the victim is known to police—and say there’s no ongoing risk to the public.

The area of Patterson Ave and Hurst St near Ocean View Funeral Home and Burial Park was closed for several hours Monday as investigators worked at the scene.
