Victim identified in weekend shooting along North Road
29-year-old Gagandeep Sandhu of Abbotsford is thought to have been targeted
29-year-old Gagandeep Sandhu was from Abbotsford. Burnaby RCMP.
Detectives have released the name and image of a 29-year-old man they say was likely the victim of a targeted shooting over the weekend, not far from Lougheed Town Centre.
Not long after Saturday’s shooting, investigators were called out to an area near Bainbridge Avenue and Greenwood Street for a vehicle fire.
Gagandeep Sandhu was from Abbotsford. The motive of the shooting, according to detectives, is still not clear.
“[The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team] is working closely with the RCMP’s forensic experts to process both scenes and to determine if they are related,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said in a press release on Sunday. “We’re asking any witnesses or anyone with dash camera video who was in either area, to please come forward.”
