Heads up, Burnaby—summer events season is almost here, and a well-loved street festival is on its way back for its 11th year!
TJ Fest will return to Burnaby on May 6 and 7, and organizers tell the Beacon this year will be bigger than ever before.
The event, famous for its large and delicious selection of Taiwanese street food, will span over two city blocks and Avondale Park in South Burnaby this year—all the more room for food vendors and performances!
You can expect mouthwatering and authentic eats like Taiwanese pork belly and vegetarian burgers, popcorn chicken, fish cakes, bento boxes, ice cream, and more.
You’ll be entertained by nearly 20 live performances over the weekend from local dance groups, martial arts academies, and drummers.
As for the community market—there are plenty of local artisans and vendors setting up shop at the festival, including resin art, soap and perfume, incense, and more. The festival says it will donate any proceeds it gets from the market to the Canadian Liver Foundation and other local charities.
TJ Fest says more than 10,000 people attended the festival last year, and it expects this year to be even bigger.
TJ Fest will return to the Tian-Jin Temple at 3426 Smith Ave. from 11am to 4pm on May 6 and 7.
Entry is free, and there will also be some free street parking available in the area.
