One of Burnaby’s most popular breweries is raising money for Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver with its holiday meat draw. On December 18, come on down to Studio Brewing to enter in on the meat raffle (good news vegans, there are also meatless options available). Burnaby residents will have the opportunity to bring some positivity to seniors this holiday season by donating a gift through Home Instead’s Be a Santa Senior Program. Folks can visit London Drugs at 4970 Kingsway in Burnaby and look for a Christmas tree on display. The tree is decorated with ornaments that include gift requests from local seniors. The requests range from slippers, and blankets to necessities like toiletries. Shoppers can choose an ornament and buy the requested gift for a senior in need and return it unwrapped to the store with the ornament attached. Click here for more information.
The Rotary Club of Metrotown is organizing a winter coat drive for kids. Until January 31, 2022, you can drop off new or gently used coats at the following locations:

On Giving Tuesday (Nov 30) Society to End Homelessness is looking to raise $2,000 to fund its upcoming shower program for a year. The program aims to help reduce the stigma homeless individuals face by proving them with a hot shower and hygiene products. Donate here.
Help fill up Burnaby’s community fridges
The Burnaby Community Fridge has two locations where folks can donate fresh grocery items. The fridges are located at 4760 Imperial St and the SFU Student Building at #1341-SUB 3100, 8888 University Drive. Learn more about what you can donate here.
The Edmonds community “Hi Neighbour” initiative is currently working to set up a free little pantry in the neighbourhood, which would provide free food and hygiene items for folks to take whenever needed. The group is currently looking for a location to set up the pantry and is reaching out to community members in Edmonds who have space available on their private property to do so. My Artist’s Corner (MAC), a non-profit organization providing art classes for Burnaby and New Westminster residents living with mental health issues, is hosting an online silent auction from Dec 10-19 to raise money for equipment and supplies for its 2022 programming. More items will be added in the coming weeks. You can participate here.
Burnaby’s Physio Collective is hosting its annual Holiday Food Drive from December 1st to December 23rd. They will be collecting non-perishable food items for those in need and donating $1 for every pound of food we raise to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. They are also are accepting cash donations to support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB). Learn more here.
