If you’ve got the winter blues, there are lots of events happening around Burnaby this week to bring you out of your slump—from cooking classes to drag brunch and more!

Make a delicious menu of sushi, chawan mushi, chicken yakatori, and more at this Japanese cooking class on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 6:30pm at Posh Pantry. And save us some leftovers!

Head to The City of Lougheed mall on Saturday, January 14 to Welcome the Year of the Rabbit. There will be several festivities and activities planned, including dance performances, Chinese calligraphy, a lantern tunnel, wishing trees and red lucky envelopes. The celebrations run until January 22.

Brighten up your January with a special drag brunch hosted by The Established, Shanda Leer at The Rec Room on Jan. 15! Buy your tickets by the table—admission includes a delicious buffet brunch and a mimosa each.

Enjoy sips and sounds at The Admiral Pub on Sunday, Jan. 15! It’s one of the best recurring events in the city—Gabriel Mark Hasselbach puts on a stunning jazz show at the pub from 5-8pm on Sundays. Cover is only $6!

Join Steamworks Brewery and Taproom every Tuesday night for trivia at 7:30pm! Because true validation comes from proving that you know more than the people around you—while you enjoy a pint of delicious, locally brewed beer.

If you’re a teen who’s passionate about the library, you can help make it even better by attending this teen advisory group run by Burnaby Public Library. All teens are welcome to join, and you earn community service credits! This virtual meeting takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 3:30pm.
Paint nite is the perfect date night out! You get an experience, a fun environment, a place to have a drink and some nibbles–and a souvenir to take home at the end of the night. Yaymaker is hosting a Paint Nite at Sandee’s Lounge and Banquet Hall at 7pm on Jan. 19.

If you’re sick of wasting plastic wrap at home and you’re looking for a more sustainable alternative, this beeswax wrap workshop put on by BC Bee Supply is the place to be! Join them on Jan. 19 at 6pm—no experience needed.
