What’s on the menu: New Burnaby restaurants on our radar in January
New year, new Burnaby restaurants to try!
There are always new foodie destinations popping up around the city, and we’re here to keep you updated.
From sushi to dim sum, here are some new Burnaby restaurants on our radar this January.
Ajishou Japanese Cuisine is now open at The Amazing Brentwood. Ajishou means the “craftsman of taste” and that’s what Ajishou tries to embody with its modern take on traditional Japanese fare.
Address:4567 Lougheed Hwy. Ajishou is located upstairs next to Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant on Brentwood Plaza, in between Sephora and Earls.
Neptune Palace is known for serving up delectable dim sum and gourmet Chinese dishes. It also was just named to the Michelin Recommended list, so it’s an awesome option for a very delicious dining experience in the city.
Address: 4567 Lougheed Hwy. Located upstairs next to Ajishou on Brentwood Plaza, in between Sephora and Earls.
Alright, even though La Taqueria at The Amazing Brentwood has been open since November, we needed to remind you how great Burnaby’s newest Mexican spot is.
If you’re craving tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and more traditional Mexican fare, La Taqueria is the place to go. It also has fantastic cocktail offerings (did someone say Margaritas?) and awesome mocktails. And if you’re looking for a Tequila tasting, the bar staff is extremely knowledgeable and will introduce you to authentic, hard-to-find Tequilas that will add an extra oomph to your dining experience.
Address: 4580 Brentwood Blvd., Unit 1210
Peachy Peachy is located just over the Burnaby/Vancouver border at Boundary and Kingsway, so we thought it was worth a mention!
This new bubble tea and dessert cafe just had its grand opening on Jan. 1 and boasts an impressive menu with items like the mango pomelo coco sago, osmanthus milk tea with fermented rice, light yuzu cheesecake, and Oreo milk pudding box.
Address: 3612 Kingsway (Vancouver)
Earls’ highly anticipated location at The Amazing Brentwood will open in February. We’ll be sure to update you as soon as we learn more!
Closures
Because we want to keep you up to date, here are some notable restaurant and cafe closures in the city that you should know about.
Hakkaku Ramen
Hakkaku Ramen in Burnaby Heights (4530 Hastings St.) shuttered its doors in November. According to a post on Burnaby’s Reddit page, there was a sign posted on the restaurant’s door notifying patrons of its closure. It is also listed as permanently closed on Google.
Starbucks at Market Crossing (temporary closure)
This popular Starbucks location (7585 Market Crossing) will be temporarily closing on Friday, Jan. 6 for renovations and is expected to reopen sometime in mid-March.
