Add some greenery to your home with these Burnaby nurseries and plant shops

Winter blues got you down? Us too. But never fear! Even if it’s gloomy and grey outside, you can transform your home into a tropical oasis by adding a touch of greenery.

While many nurseries and garden centres take a break over the winter, these shops across Burnaby are open all season to help make your jungle dreams come true.

A plant-lover’s paradise! Honestly, GardenWorks is just fun to wander through even if you’re not buying much. But the aisles of never ending foliage make you feel like you’ve stepped out of winter and into a lush, leafy forest. There are two locations in Burnaby: one in Lougheed and the other, GardenWorks at Mandeville, on Marine Drive in the Big Bend area. We highly recommend the Big Bend location because, along with a wonderful shopping experience and helpful plant experts on staff, there’s also the cutest cafe you’ll find in the whole city!

Address: GardenWorks at Mandeville: 4746 Marine Dr. / GardenWorks Lougheed: 6250 Lougheed Hwy

Bring the serenity of a bonsai tree to your home. If you don’t know, bonsai is a Japanese art form that involves growing miniature trees in pots. It revolves around specific practices of pruning and training, and the folks at Sunny Bonsai can only be described as artists. Visit the shop at Metrotown to see what we mean—they have beautifully presented trees arranged with ornaments, rocks, and more!

Address: Metropolis at Metrotown, 4700 Kingsway

This Burnaby florist is all about love! And while it sells beautiful and individually crafted flower arrangements, it also has a beautiful supply of plants for any budget. (Pro-tip, brides and grooms to be: The Heart Company does wedding arrangements too!)

Address: #208-7475 Hedley Ave.

Adele-Rae Florist has been on the floral scene in Burnaby since 1963—with a tenure that long, y0u know they’re good! When you wander into the flower shop on Hastings, you might not feel like leaving. Along with stunning floral arrangements, it has a wide variety of tropical plants, orchids, terrariums, giftware, and more; everything you need to make your home feel a little more alive.

Address: 4714 Hastings St.
