Burnaby’s newest Vietnamese restaurant to open this month
Burnaby’s newest Vietnamese restaurant, B&D Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine, is preparing to open its doors this month and it’s a day that owners Bella and Dat Nguyen have been looking forward to for quite some time.
Dat Nguyen told Burnaby Beacon that he and his wife both moved from Saigon to Canada five years ago as international students.
“Bella … is the chef. She went to culinary school and has been working in the kitchen/restaurant setting for about seven years,” he said.
“Myself, Dat, has always been in the service industry for the last 10 years.”
Nguyen explained that opening a restaurant has always been a dream for Bella and he’s tagged along for the ride to support her fulfill her culinary goals.
“Canada has also been kind to both of us. We have got so much support from the community, as well as local friends and family. With the final push from our godparents, Kim and Tony, the owners of Pho Quynh Express, we decided to open our first restaurant in Burnaby,” said Nguyen.
When it comes to what diners can expect on the menu, Nguyen said the focus is on authentic Vietnamese dishes, presented with a modern twist.
“You will definitely see the usual Pho or Spicy Beef Noodles (Bun Bo Hue). Besides that, you will see some items not yet introduced in the community like our Beef Hot Pot or Mini Coconut Rice Cake,” he said.
“We want to make these dishes known to the community as they all carry a piece of our love for the Viet cuisine, and just because they taste great.”
B&D Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine’s grand opening is on April 19.
