Thurs. June 8: Alcohol-in-the-park program approved

Plus a Burnaby Brewers Row, the best vegetarian, and more

Good morning !

It’s been a warm one in Burnaby over the past few days, and I’m hoping that it cools down this weekend in time for my quick day trip to Bowen Island.

This week, we heard from council about whether a pilot program for alcohol in the parks would receive final approval.

A few weeks ago, we asked you folks how you felt about alcohol in Burnaby’s parks. See those results at the bottom of today’s email.

Check out the council recap to hear more about the discussion that led to (spoiler!) approval of the program.

The pilot program that was first brought to council on May 8 has now been approved. Starting on June 23, residents can enjoy alcohol in Edmonds, Confederation, Central, and Keswick parks.

But that’s not all that happened at council. Read the full recap here for more about the discussions over how strata parking should be regulated and a proposal to create a Brewers Row in Burnaby.
