What’s on: Live shows to check out in November in Burnaby

With the weather getting colder, you might be looking for ways to stay entertained without spending too much time outside in the rain.

Well, never fear—here’s a selection of live shows happening in Burnaby this month that are perfect for date night, family night, or even a solo night out on the town.

Best Life

Best Life is an experimental and immersive live production inspired by the domestic machines that become our companions through life. The show tells the stories of one suburban neighbourhood over a span of 50 years—reaching back into the past and far into the future.

Best Life was created by Theatre Replacement and developed through LIFT’s Concept Touring Digital Residency, the Deer Lake Artist’s Residency and through the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

Karaoke with Tracy

For when you want to be the show. The Admiral Pub hosts weekly karaoke nights on Thursdays from 8-9pm, so head on out to the Heights and bring your best belting voice—or, sit back and enjoy as your fellow pub-goers entertain you. No tickets required.

Little Miss Higgins

JUNO award nominated artist Little Miss Higgins is coming to the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on Nov. 4 from 8–10pm. She’s been making music for the last 15 years and plays a unique blend of early country blues, jazz and folk.

Chris Funk: The Wonderist

Chris Funk aka The Wonderist combines music and magic to create a truly unique performance. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for youths.

Cross-Bones Comedy

A regular act at locations across Burnaby, Cross-Bones Comedy is sure to make you forget your almost-winter blues and laugh all your troubles away. You can see the show every two weeks at the Admiral Pub on Hastings. Cross-Bones nights also feature a special event menu with beer specials from Steamworks Brewing.

Noxious

This live dance production created by Paras Terezakis and performed by Kinesis Dance aims to start a conversation about pollution—both of our planet, and of our minds. Noxious explores the toxicity that enters our life through a variety of experiences, from everyday aggressions to deep traumas—and hopes to untangle itself from that toxicity.

Live Comedy at The Rec Room

Enjoy some live comedy from some great local and touring comics. Plus, The Rec Room is a a great place to hang out to grab a few drinks and play some arcade games.

Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar 

Studio Theatre at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts hosts a stunning live musical performance filled with intense emotional performances with breathtaking instrumental reinforcements. Frontwoman Samantha Martin describes Delta Sugar’s vocal blend as “pure, unadulterated gospel-tinged, neuron-tingling magic where the sum is even richer than the already soul-melting parts.”
