Lunar New Year events to check out in Burnaby
Lunar New Year is coming up on Jan. 22 and there are some fun and festive ways to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit in Burnaby.
Check out the Lunar New Year celebrations happening around town, and take part in the festivities!
Head to The City of Lougheed mall on Saturday, Jan. 14 to Welcome the Year of the Rabbit. This event will include dance performances from Vancouver Beautiry Dance World and a Lion Dance and Blessing. There will also be Chinese calligraphy, decorative displays, a latern tunnel, a lucky stairway, wishing trees, and lucky red envelopes. The celebrations run until Jan. 22.
On Jan. 21, head to The Amazing Brentwood to ring in the Year of the Rabbit. The event will start off with a Lion Dance at 1pm and you’ll be able to enjoy complimentary treats, retailer promotions and pick up a red envelope.
From Jan. 22 to Feb. 5, Metropolis at Metrotown will transform to celebrate Lunar New Year. The mall will be hosting cultural workshops, live entertainment, dance performances, photo opportunities and much more.
Head to the Heights for their annual Lunar New Year celebrations on Feb. 4 from noon to 4pm as Lion Dancers will visit participating merchants and shoppers.
On Jan. 21, from noon to 4pm, Burnaby MPs Jagmeet Singh and Peter Julian and MLAs Anne Kang, Raj Chouhan, Katrina Chen, and Janet Routledge will be co-hosting a free public event at the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre for a day filled with activities, cultural performances and food.
