Give thanks, Burnaby, for the long weekend approaches! There’s lots going on this weekend to mark Family Day, and plenty of events the rest of the week too.

Shadbolt Centre for the Arts

Dil Ka, a play written by Lee Nisar, follows potential bride-to-be Zahra, a 26-year-old Pakistani woman who is attempting to make biryani to bring to a potential suitor’s house. Catch the performance as part of the Advance Theatre Festival at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.

Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre / Eventbrite

Celebrate Family Day at Nikkei Centre, with Japanese crafts, cultural displays, and an anime screening. Admission is free, and the museum is putting on a ton of family-friendly programming through the day.

Jam out to your favourite K-Pop tunes at K-Pop Night at The Rec Room! Special guest DJ Yuka K will be spinning your favourite tracks. The event is 19+ only and organizers say you can expect a huge dance floor, soju, and mad good vibes.

Drag Brunch is back! Join host The Established, Shanda Leer at The Rec Room for performances by some of BC's best in drag. Your ticket includes a buffet brunch and a mimosa—there’s both a early show and an afternoon show!

Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre

Whether you're learning Japanese or simply love manga, this event is for you! Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre is hosting a manga sale this month until Feb. 26 in the Tatami Room—all manga is $2!
