What to do around Burnaby Lake Regional Park
Burnaby has so much going on that you may never have to leave the city to do something fun. We’re highlighting some of the best things to do in Burnaby, this time around Burnaby Lake Park. Just take the SkyTrain to Production Way and, after a quick 10-minute walk, you’ll be there.

Visit the Burnaby Lake Nature House
Located in the heart of Burnaby Lake Park is the Burnaby Lake Nature House, which has plenty of things to do. You can check out real specimens of a coyote and beaver-chewed stump, living pond creatures, children’s puzzles and discovery boxes, games and books about local wildlife. displays on local natural history, and a photo gallery of images taken by park visitors that changes weekly.

Check out the outdoor butterfly garden
Located right outside the Burnaby Lake Nature House is an outdoor butterfly garden that brings all sorts of winged friends. You can expect to find butterflies, dragonflies, and hummingbirds!
El Comal is both a Mexican restaurant and a grocery store. You can purchase some traditional Mexican ingredients or enjoy some delicious food like tacos and enchilada. We’d recommend trying the taco combo that comes with three tacos, rice, and refried beans.

Birdwatch at Eagle Creek
Eagle Creek is one of the best destinations in Burnaby for bird watching. You’ll quite often see families of geese along with other birds that call Burnaby Lake their home. The Burnaby Lake Park Association puts on nature walks where you can learn all about the plants and birds that live in Burnaby Lake Park, and the next one is Lord of the Rings themed!
You can walk around the entirety of Burnaby Lake on a 10km trail. Be sure to wear some good walking shoes and bring some water because this can be a bit of a hike for those expecting a casual morning stroll.
Not only can you go skating at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre, but if you pay attention to the calendar, you’ll be able to do so for $2. The Bill Copeland Sports Centre tends to offer toonie skates close to holidays and on Pro-D days, with the next one being Oct. 21.

Wicks & Wax has been making candles since 1959 and it’s still going strong. It has a huge selection of different candles, or you can even buy the equipment to make your own candle! There’s also bath bombs, cosmetics, books, and plenty more. This little shop is definitely worth the visit.

Every April 1, the Burnaby Lake Archery Range accepts new members. Memberships cost $120 for an individual for the entire year, or $240 for a family membership for people living in the same household. You’ll then be able to use the range and participate in some of the tournaments and shootouts.

You can walk northwest from the Bill Copeland Sports Centre to make your way over to K Chicken for some delicious Korean fried chicken. We’d recommend trying either the snow cheese chicken or the garlic soy sauce chicken. They also have a lunch menu where you can get a meal for $10.
