Altercation at Brentwood fast food joint sparks heavy police presence (VIDEO)
An argument at a fast food restaurant sparked a large police presence in the Brentwood neighbourhood on Wednesday night, says the RCMP.
RCMP was called to the restaurant in the area of Willingdon Avenue and Halifax Street, near The Amazing Brentwood, around 6pm for reports of an altercation between a group of youth and other customers and staff.
One of the youth allegedly brandished a can of bear spray during the argument.
Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Michael Kalanj said in an emailed statement that most of the group stayed on the scene when officers arrived, but one youth fled—prompting police to set up a large containment zone in the Brentwood area in an effort to track him down.

He was eventually tracked down nearby and sustained “minor injuries” from a police dog.
Kalanj said six youth in total, including the one who fled, were taken into custody.
A Burnaby RCMP officer was also injured in the pursuit, but Kalanj said there was no physical confrontation with the suspects. Instead, the officer was running and fell—they were taken to hospital with a wrist and arm injury.
