On Saturday, Aug. 13, Fruit Beer Fest comes to Swangard Stadium with tons of different craft brewers and others pouring beers, ciders, and wines made with regionally-grown fruits. There are over 30 breweries already confirmed to attend Fruit Beer Fest, including local faves like 33 Acres Brewing, Container Brewing, Field House Brewing, Another Beer Co., House of Funk Brewing, Superflux, and Studio Brewing, including Vermont’s Hill Farmstead Brewery, Seattle’s MIRAGE and Fair Isle Brewing, and New York’s Equilibrium Brewery. There will also be food and live music at the event! Tickets starts at $69.99 and can be purchased online.

Summer Cinemas returns for the entire month of August! You can enjoy a free family-friendly outdoor movie in Burnaby every Friday starting at 8:30pm at Civic Square. The movie schedule is as follows:
Aug. 12 – Clifford the Big Red Dog
Aug. 19 – Paddington 2
Aug. 26 – Shaun the Sheep Movie
Sept. 2 – Ron’s Gone Wrong
The Lego Movie is also playing on Aug. 20 at Edmonds Park.

Burnaby Neighbourhood House is holding a free community event on Thursday, Aug. 11. A portion of Beresford St. (just outside of the Burnaby Neighbourhood House South House office) will be closed and everyone is welcome. There will be a community barbecue, games, hand painting, crafts, interactive booths hosted by community partners and local businesses, music, entertainment, and displays. A Community Cleanup Extravaganza is happening on Aug. 13 in the Royal Oak area. There will be food, beverages, and prizes at the end of the event. Come out to help your community and keep Burnaby clean! You can register and find more information about this event by emailing [email protected].
Sign up for an appointment to donate blood this Sunday, Aug. 7 at Aubrey Elementary from 9:30am to 4:15pm. Currently, all blood donations are by appointment only, and you can sign up on the Canadian Blood Services website. Not only will you be doing something great for the community but you will be able to enjoy cookies and juice afterwards.
