Best Burnaby spots for vegetarian food
Burnaby has some great food, but if you’re vegetarian or vegan you might feel a little left out. But don’t worry, there are plenty of tasty treats for all you herbivores out there. So whether you like Vietnamese, Greek, or even Mexican food, we’ve got you covered. So here’s our list of the best Burnaby spots for vegetarians.
Govinda’s Dining does some of the best vegetarian and vegan food in all of Burnaby. For around $15 you can get a delicious tasting meal that will fill you up. Pre-COVID they had a buffet, but now they do table service instead. They also feature different vegan takes on cultural cuisines like Mexican and Greek food depending on the day. What’s even better is that the whole menu is either vegetarian or vegan, meaning you don’t have to worry about accidentally ordering something with meat in it.
Address: 5462 Marine Dr
Saffron Indian Cuisine has an entire menu dedicated to vegan food. The vegan mutter mushroom is delicious and made with fresh mushrooms & green peas in a rich onion curry sauce. We also really like their vegan aloo gobi, but you can’t go wrong with any of the vegan options on their menu.
Address: 4300 Kingsway
Golden Pita has plenty of vegetarian and vegan options on their menu. This Lebanese restaurant specializes in pita wraps, and we’d recommend trying their “Moud” wrap which has a Moudardara (lentils and rice) mix topped with caramelized onions and wrapped with hummus, tzatziki, tomato, and pickled turnips. They also have a vegan rice platter which has 3 pieces of falafel with a spinach pie, grape leaf, tabbouleh salad, pita bread, and hummus and tahini dips.
Address: 9630 Cameron St
Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba doesn’t have a huge selection of vegetarian options, but their vegan mazesoba is worth the visit. If you’re wanting more traditional ramen, they also serve vegan ramen that you can order either hot or cold.
Address: 6049 Silver Dr and 106-1901 Rosser Ave
B&D is known for their house special pho, but they also have an entire section of vegetarian and vegan options. The lemongrass tofu on rice is a must-try whether you’re vegetarian or not. They also have vegan pho and vegan spring rolls for you to try. Additionally, they’re planning on expanding their menu and offering more vegan and vegetarian delights so be sure to keep an eye on their Instagram for updates.
Address: 7090 Kingsway
Y Sushi serves your typical sushi offerings but also has some vegetarian and vegan options as well. Their green roll has yam tempura, cream cheese, cucumber, avocado, and sweet sesame and peanut sauce on top. They also serve a tofu teriyaki bento that comes with miso, salad, rice, 4 pieces of tempura, and a yam roll. So if you’re looking for your sushi fix, this is the spot to go!
Address: 7341 Edmonds St
Previously known as Paradise Vegetarian Noodle House, Nam Vegan Express specializes in just vegan items. That’s right, everything on their menu is 100% vegan. We’d recommend trying their BBQ V-Chicken Bites (made with vegan chicken), vegan pho, or Bun Bo Hue which is a spicy noodle soup.
