Dim sum eatery to open doors in Burnaby's former Swiss Chalet location
The Swiss Chalet on Lougheed Hwy was the last one operating in BC, and closed down last year.

The former home of the last Swiss Chalet to operate in BC has a new tenant—and they’ll be offering up casual Chinese dining and inventive mixed drinks.
Happy Valley Food City announced on Instagram that it will be soft-opening in the spot at 3860 Lougheed Highway this month.
The restaurant will host a few different concepts, serving up dim sum in the morning from 9am to 3pm and late-night BBQ skewers from 5 to 11:30pm through Happy Valley Wonder House.
Meanwhile, Happy Valley will also operate a Hong Kong-style cafe at the same location, where you can expect everything from “baked dishes to soupy noodles”.
We’ll keep you posted on opening dates and menu items as we get those details!
Swiss Chalet was a longtime tenant of the location—the last for the chain restaurant to run in BC.
In late 2021, it announced it would be closing its doors at the end of the year—although it was granted a last-minute reprieve to operate on a month-to-month basis.
It was finally shuttered for good in August of 2022.
