A must-try food tour from Patterson to Metrotown Station

Our first food tour took us from Metrotown to Royal Oak Station, but people wanted more. That’s why we decided to extend it from Patterson Station to Metrotown Station for those looking for more yummy food to eat. Like the last one, this route is 100% transit-friendly and will offer different options for you to customize your food tour to your liking.

From Patterson station, you’re going to want to walk along Central Park and up towards Kingsway, turn right, and keep going until you hit the Old Orchard Shopping Centre. Me + Crepe is located in the very back of the shopping centre but it is worth the walk. They serve these savoury crepe wraps that are absolutely delicious. You can’t go wrong by ordering one of the Peking Duck crepes, but they also have plenty of different options like golden tuna and crawfish.

Address: 4429 Kingsway #27

Alternative: Big Way Hot Pot

We’ll admit, the walk from Patterson to Me + Crepe is the longest on this food tour so we understand if you want some more immediate gratification and get some food immediately. If you’re doing this food tour with a group of friends, then you need to visit Big Way Hot Pot. They have a huge variety of stuff to put in your soup, and they’ll also give you a free soft serve at the end for dessert. But on the topic of dessert, let’s head over to our next stop.

Address: 7-4300 Kingsway

Chicha San Shen

After some yummy food you deserve a treat, and that treat is bubble tea. Chicha San Chen is one of Burnaby’s newest bubble tea spots and we promise you won’t be disappointed. Regardless of whether you went to Me + Crepe or to Big Way Hot Pot, you’ll continue south along Kingsway until you hit this spot. We’d recommend trying their Fresh Milk with Taro Balls and Paste. You’ve never had taro boba like this before.

Address: 101 – 4501 Kingsway

Alternative: CoCo

If you’re wanting a more traditional version of bubble tea, then you should hit up CoCo. Again, it’s a bit longer of a walk (closer to Metrotown) than Chicha San Chen, but it will also be closer to your next stop so do with that information as you will. They currently are featuring Brown Sugar Pearl Milk Teas and Brown Sugar Pearl Lattes, but any of their fruity teas are a great option as well.

The Bao Place

We’re not even going to offer you an alternative to this place because you need to visit it. The Bao Place does some of the tastiest and fluffiest bao you’ve ever had. Plus, you’ll have your food within ten seconds of ordering (we’re not even kidding). We’d recommend trying their Pork Deluxe and Belly Belly Pork. But we’ll be honest, everything on their menu is good. They also do different daily specials so be sure to check this place out.

Address: 4673 Kingsway

Soft Peaks Ice Cream has some of the best soft-serve you’ll ever try, along with plenty of different toppings to choose from. This is the perfect place to end your food tour with something a little bit sweet. If you’re a fan of chocolate then you need to try the Mudslide which has Tim Tam crumbs with chocolate syrup. If you’re looking for something not as intense then the Honeycomb Peak is the one for you with local honeycomb and cereal flakes.

Address: 4603 Kingsway

If you’re wanting something a little different than ice cream then head over to Sulmida Dessert Cafe for some shaved ice. They have plenty of different flavours like Choco Berry and Nutella Banana. They also serve coffee and other drinks if you’re feeling too full from all the food you’ve eaten throughout the day.

Address: 4697 Kingsway

So there you have it, these are some of our favourite food places that will take you from Patterson to Metrotown Station. If you’re feeling brave (and hungry enough) you can combine it with our food tour from Metrotown to Royal Oak Station to make it a full day of eating. And as always, if you end up trying the food tour, be sure to post it on social media and tag @burnabybeacon so we can see.
