Thurs. June 15: Too much parking?

Plus, Foodstock hits Burnaby, the RCMP needs help and more!

Together With

Brewery & The Beast

Good morning !

This week, I’m enjoying the cooler and somewhat overcast weather and hoping it sticks around for a little longer. As the partner of a wildfire fighter, I spend most of the hot summer days constantly tracking wildfire activity and hoping for rain.

Besides Foodstock, I’m laying low this weekend and hoping to tackle the ever-growing list of books sitting on my shelf. What do you have planned for this weekend?

Proposed Pinnacle Lougheed towers. 📸 Burnaby Beacon

A Burnaby councillor voiced concerns about a proposed 14-level underground parking garage, which would host over 2,700 parking spaces.

“It’ll take 10 minutes just for somebody to park their car,” said Coun. Alison Gu, raising concerns about the 73-storey and 80-storey towers proposed for 9850 Austin Rd. and 9858/9598 Gatineau Pl.

The bylaw application passed its third reading but is expected to return to council shortly with a transportation impact assessment that will address the parking requirements.
