If you’re looking for delicious samosas in Burnaby, you’re in luck, because a local hidden gem is serving up what could be the best samosas in town.

McMosa Industries Ltd., located at 6325 Beresford St., is tucked away in a South Burnaby industrial area. But once you find it, you’ll be coming back for more.

McMosa is a no-fuss spot. It doesn’t offer a plethora of fancy samosa flavours and it isn’t a place where you go to dine-in. These samosas come in bulk and are made to enjoy at home.

You can choose from four fillings: potatoes & peas, garden vegetable, chicken or beef.

Samosas come in regular and mini sizes, and you can get them pre-fried and frozen or fresh, with options for a dozen, 20, or 25 pieces.

Rashida Daud, a supervisor at McMosa, told the Beacon that they have been operating in the city for 20 years, and the small shop has been popular with folks in Burnaby and around Metro Vancouver.

When asked what McMosa’s most popular flavours are, Daud paused, before confidently stating that “everything” is a must-try.

And after trying a McMosa samosa, it becomes evident why they are such a hit.

The pastry itself is crispy, flaky and not too thick. Unlike other samosas you may get at Indian sweet shops, these samosas are a bit flatter in shape.

The filling (we tried the garden vegetable) is made to perfection. The spices were just right, and there was a good balance between potatoes and mixed vegetables.

Daud explained that while McMosa is a Punjabi-owned business, its samosas appeal to the local Ismaili community as well and they often cook up thousands (Daud said up to 12,000) samosas for events at the local jamatkhanas (Ismaili places of worship).

Although we don’t recommend you place an individual order for 12,000 samosas, we do think you should check out McMosa next time you get a samosa craving.

If you wish to order ahead, give them a call: 604) 432-7554. McMosa is open daily from 8am to 3:30pm and closed on Sundays.
