Burnaby Readers’ Choice Awards: The best overall restaurants, chosen by you

Alright Burnaby, now that we’ve announced the top restaurants from our 2023 Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Awards, presented by Tourism Burnaby, it’s time to highlight some more winners by category.

We’re breaking down the top three restaurant winners in each of the 32 categories included in this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards, as voted by you.

First up, the top three restaurants in the Best Overall category. Here are your winners.

First place: Cayenne Bistro & Grill

Specializing in East African and Indian fusion cuisine, Cayenne Bistro is a must-try destination for bright, punchy dishes like beef mishkaki (skewers) and cayenne lamb chops, as well as their ample list of curries, stews and biryani. Be sure to leave room for dessert, as their homemade kulfi is too good to miss.

Second place: The Keg Steakhouse

Nobody does casual fine dining quite like the Keg. Ideal for both special occasions and drop-in lunches, their steaks are consistently delicious. Not a fan of red meat? They’ve got plenty of great options for seafood as well, such as their lobster tail dinner and pistachio-crusted salmon.

Third place: The Peri Peri Shack

The Peri Peri Shack is one of the best places to visit for flame-grilled chicken, seasoned and cooked to perfection with an ample list of sides like spiced basmati rice, corn ribs and coleslaw. Their spice rub, a combination of salty, sweet and spicy, always hits the spot.
