This Burnaby dairy is a hidden gem selling delicious ice cream
If you’ve ever driven along Burnaby’s North Fraser Way, you probably wouldn’t think there’s a spot where you can get some of the most delicious ice cream in the city.
But tucked away in the city’s Big Bend industrial area is the Avalon Dairy retail store and the Old Farmhouse Kitchen, which is a small cafe located inside.
Avalon is BC’s oldest independent dairy, known for selling milk in its iconic glass bottles. Avalon also produces cheese, yogurt, eggs, ice cream, and other dairy products, which also come in organic options.

At the Old Farm House Kitchen, you can get a pint of Avalon’s delicious ice cream or order a scoop (or two) at the front counter.
When it comes to flavours, Avalon keeps it classic with chocolate, strawberry and cream, French vanilla bean, black cherry, mountain berry, mocha fudge, and coconut.
We promise that whatever flavour you choose, you will not be disappointed. If you need some recommendations, we suggest trying chocolate, coconut, or strawberry and cream.
And if you’re craving something a little more decadent than ice cream, Old Farmhouse Kitchen also serves milkshakes made with Avalon ice cream.
If you can’t make your way down to the Old Farmhouse Kitchen, it’s not too hard to get your hands on a carton of Avalon ice cream—you can find it at many local grocery stores.
But summer isn’t complete without heading down to an ice cream shop to get that over-the-counter experience!
