Burnaby Readers’ Choice Awards: Best cafe winners
We’re continuing with our Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Award category winners
Alright, Burnaby. We’ve announced the top restaurants from our 2023 Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Awards, presented by Tourism Burnaby. Now it’s time to highlight more winners by category.
We’re breaking down the top three restaurant winners in each of the 32 categories included in this year’s awards, as voted by you.
Here are the winners of the best cafe in Burnaby.
First place: La Foret
With a spacious dining hall and extensive coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, La Foret is the perfect cafe to visit for any occasion. Whether you’re just looking to grab a sweet bite with coffee (say, one of their salted brownie or s’more speculoos cookies) or a substantial lunch like creamy mushroom rigatoni or a bulgogi sandwich, they’ve got you covered.
Address: 6848 Jubilee Ave, Burnaby
Second place: Small Victory
Taking pride in being a cozy, neighbourhood cafe with delicious food, Small Victory Cafe is a great to-go and dine-in cafe serving pastries, baked goods and brunch (along with, of course, a full coffee bar) They’re best known for their breads—each loaf undergoes long fermentation periods and is baked fresh daily—as well as treats like croissant doughnuts and individual cake slices.
Address: 4580 Brentwood Blvd #1214, Burnaby
Third place: FDL Cafe
FDL, short for fior di latte, is an Italian cafe that serves espresso-based drinks, gelato, pastries and big sandwiches in a small, homey atmosphere. Be sure to come with an appetite, as their sandwiches in particular—made with in-house roasted meat and fresh bread—look amazing. Finish strong with handcrafted gelato and you’ll be set for the rest of the day.
Address: 4233 E Hastings St #100B, Burnaby
