Burnaby Readers’ Choice Awards: Best ice cream winners

We’re continuing with our Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Award category winners

Alright, Burnaby. We’ve announced the top restaurants from our 2023 Beacon’s Readers’ Choice Awards, presented by Tourism Burnaby. Now it’s time to highlight some more winners by category.

We’re breaking down the top three restaurant winners in each of the 32 categories included in this year’s awards, as voted by you.

Here are the winners of the best ice cream in Burnaby.

Serving retro desserts in a classic ’50s diner venue, Glenburn Soda Fountain & Confectionery specializes in malt milkshakes, ice cream cakes and hefty banana split sundaes that make it an iconic date spot. The offering currently includes ice cream sodas, ice cream cakes, and to-go pints with flavours like mint chip and coffee.

Address: 4090 Hastings St., Burnaby

Second place: Nuvola Gelato & Dolci

With a constantly rotating gelato menu, it’s always exciting to enter Nuvola Gelato & Dolci to see what they’re featuring. Made fresh daily with local ingredients, some enticing options include fior di latte, chocolate raspberry and amaretti and refreshing sorbetto flavours like orange and watermelon.

This is not your ordinary soft-serve ice cream shop. Soft Peaks Ice Cream takes pride in using organic milk ingredients and guarantees a gourmet, handcrafted ice cream experience. Though you can customize your ice cream flavour (chocolate, vanilla or twist) and toppings, some of their creations include a “honeycomb peak” with local honeycomb and cereal flakes and a “Gastown” flavour reminiscent of tiramisu.
