The much-loved The Bao Place has found a new location in the city and looks to reopen soon. The Bao Place announced the closure of its Kingsway location in June 2022, but the owners told the Beacon at the time they were taking a bit of a hiatus before looking for a new location. On Jan. 22, The Bao Place announced on its Facebook page that it has secured a new location at 7353 Edmonds St., next to Grand Food Mart. Big Way Hot Pot

Big Way Hot Pot is opening a second location at 5-4250 Kingsway (where Gokudo used to be) which is only a two-minute walk away from its first outpost. In an email to Burnaby Beacon, Big Way explained that the close proximity of this second location is because its current outpost has limited capacity. "By expanding to a nearer location, it will allow us to offer better service (reduce wait time, reservations, etc...) to our customers and also, expand/explore new items on our menu," stated Big Way representative Christina Luo. Big Way is expected to have its soft opening of this second location within the next few weeks.
The Dolar Shop/ Instagram
The Dolar Shop, which currently operates at 6078 Silver Dr. in Station Square, announced last month that it is opening another location very close by at 4361 Kingsway. On its Instagram page, the restaurant said that it is currently hiring for its new outpost. Burnaby Beacon reached out to the Dolar Shop for more information about this second location and when it expects it will be open. We'll let you know!

The lunch menu offers several handheld selections like the chicken ceasar wrap, Philly sandwich, or the Impossible Burger. There’s also a range of delicious smoothies, cocktails, coffees, and teas to choose from.
